THREADLINES: A Forest Tapestry
Charlotte Bird | Margo Klass | Ree Nancarrow | Terri Shinn
Four artists whose lives and visual imagery are inspired by the boreal forest join together in presenting this collection of art quilts, fiber sculpture, artist books, and other mixed media pieces. Through their work each artist expresses a keen awareness of the biodiversity of the forest’s natural ecosystems, as they reference such subjects as the effects of forest fire, the intricate patterns of lichen and tree bark, the network of mycorrhizae beneath the forest floor, and the positive effects forests have on individuals through awareness and mindfulness. They feel strongly that the forest — its trees, its inhabitants, and more broadly, its ecosystems — are a community no less important to the way we live than our own neighborhoods.
Larsen Gallery is located at 1606 W Nob Hill Blvd in Yakima.
